Happy New year! I was wondering if there is a way to show portfolio items on the front page sorted by ABC? I rearranged them by ABC in the WordPress system, sorted by date so it is by ABC, but on the frontpage, the portfolio items are arranged in random order.

Sorting them for ABC would be hard in the WordPress ecosystem. What I can suggest you is the custom order plugin, it works only in the back-end.
