1) If you plan keeping only images and simply link them to a different URL,  I would suggest you the media gallery element, so you can add images for any kind of use and you can link them wherever you need. You can use filters as well.

If you plan to use posts element and make them dynamic portfolios use posts element.

How Portfolio Items work?

The images that are displayed on the portfolio element are portfolio items, they are linked through categories to the portfolio element. The images that are displayed for the portfolio item are placed on featured image of each portfolio item.

The following example shows a posts element in which are attached 'Apps', 'Development' and 'Editing' categories, which means all the portfolio items that have assigned one of these categories will be directly displayed on that page.

There is also the Metro Layout Type in which the posts are manually added via query field, the reason why they are manually added there is because of their columns flexibility.

2) That's the hero of the page, you can hide it under page settings > hero or in the Appearance > Customize > Utility > Hero for all pages, make sure that you're inheriting the values in the page settings from Customizer, the settings can be set different on each page.

1) To upload a feature image, please edit the portfolio item inside and at the right sidebar, you'll find the featured image option. https://prnt.sc/rbbij5

2) There are three different portfolio items, side portfolio & vertical portfolio and elementor, in the first 2 you need to add the content via the options that are placed and not by elementor, the third one allows you full control over the layout.

I am sorry for the late reply. First of all, make sure to use the posts element of Bifrost and not the portfolio of Elementor, if you want to achieve something like ours.

There was a issue with the typing element, if you don't use it as it is mention on the default element, the website unfortunately, crashes due a JavaScript error.
