Hi! I'm trying to customize my homepage, made with Portfolio Boxed Metro template and left side header. but the portfolio section is not moving up to the top of the page. also the header is overlapping the portfolio section. can you please help me and show where is my mistake?
Please go to Appearance > Customize > General > Site and set the body offset option to On, after that below will appear two fields, you can add spacing to the left and right side. Add there 335px and you'll have no overlapping, after that you need to go at Appearance > Customize > Utility > Hero and set it hide for pages or you can do the same thing in the page settings only for that page.
Feel free to ask for anything you need.

another question: i'm trying to make the portfolio items to be sorted by categories. added the categories to the menu (see attachment), but the dropdown doesn't appear. how should i make it work?

Please edit the header by hovering onto the button Edit with Elementor, press onto the header and the editor will be opened where you can edit the header.
Tick onto the Navigation element and see which menu is assigned there, select the main menu and they will appear.
I think you didn't understand my question. Or i don't understand your reply =) On 9.jpg you can see the menu structure, where the Portfolio has subcategories - art direction, branding and identity, posm and illustration. And i expect to see them on dropdown when hovering the Portfolio row on the menu. But they are not there - 10.jpg. Even with clicking nothing drops down))
i suspect you only reply 1 question per day, but i'll ask anyway.
1. how to edit the thumbnail? see 11.jpg. the quality appears so poor despite the large initial picture, and also i cannot find how to align it vertically center (for the image not to be cropped at the bottom and top).
2. cannot find, how to edit the header (color and font) and footer of the portfolio item page - with links and so on. on the elementor editor the only editable item is the upper text box (description) - see 12.jpg.

3) Please check the thumbnail resizer, that could affect on the image resolution, you can either change that to a higher resolution or disable the thumbnail resizer completely. https://prnt.sc/qxacpe
4) Edit the column instead of the section, from there you'll be able to manage the typography settings. https://prnt.sc/qxadsm
5) Please make sure that you link the portfolio item with the portfolio page. The images that are displayed on the portfolio element are portfolio items, they are linked through categories to the portfolio element. The images that are displayed for the portfolio item are placed on featured image of each portfolio item.
The following example shows a posts element in which are attached 'Apps', 'Development' and 'Editing' categories, which means all the portfolio items that have assigned one of these categories will be directly displayed on that page.
There is also the Metro Layout Type in which the posts are manually added via query field, the reason why they are manually added there is because of their columns flexibility.

That's a bit of problem, because we have decided to separate the portfolio items into three types.
Side Portfolio
Vertical Portfolio
Elementor
So in the first two, you should edit the portfolio item by manipulating with the settings not via Elementor, the only thing that can be changed with Elementor in these two is the content, for the type Elementor you need to fully build the page construct.
So you decide what to use, if you intend to keep Side Portfolio, you can add the following style in Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS to change the title color.
.p-portfolio-single .p-portfolio-single__content__tabs,
.p-portfolio-single .p-portfolio-single__content__tabs ul li .tabs-title,
.p-portfolio-single .p-portfolio-single__content__tabs a {
color: #fff !Important;
}
Tabs can be removed or added by editing the portfolio item normally not with Elementor, check below the content area.

So, i've made with the revolution slider a slider, that i want to see instead of the vertical gallery on the portfolio item page. And i want the same layout - with the description on the right, and the media (slider) on the left . but what i have is everything on the right. - see the attachment. What should i do?
Should i download maybe some other template page of yours?
Can you please provide me with you wp-admin, I will create a sample portfolio item where you can check that, so you can duplicate it for the next projects.

Unfortunately the archive pages cannot be edited. You can manipulate that via Custom CSS.
