This is my first time using Elementor so perhaps I don't understand how things work but I'm having a few issues with creating and working with templates.
1) I've successfully imported demo data but it seems like I can only create one page from one page demo, is that correct? If I try to import it again to create another page with the same layout, nothing happens. It would be nice to be able to re-use these demo pages.
2) When that didn't work, I saved the page I created from the demo data as a template. I then created a new page, dragged the "Template" Neuron widget into the page, and selected the page template I created. Everything looks good but it will not allow me to edit the content, images or text. Is this normal? Is a template a fixed element that cannot be edited? If that is the case, I don't see what good it is to save an entire page as a template. Better for things that can be the same across the site, like a call to action.
At this rate I'm having to create every page from scratch. I don't have a lot of pages but it's still a pain! Thank you for any help/advice you can give me.
The demo importer will check if the same page exists under the same name/slug. So you can simply change that to any other page name and the demo importer will work, make sure to change the slug also, the slug is placed under title.
How to export a file template.
Go to the page and edit with elementor.
Next to the Save/update button there is a small arrow button. Click that.
Now click save as template.
Give the template a name.
Now go to the WP dashboard and go to my templates, there you can find it or by clicking on the new pages at the folder icon.
Please first make sure to create a new page, publish it and then import the template that you've saved. That should work, so you can start editing it normally.
The other way is by duplicating post & pages via this plugin.
