Well, on this one you need a bit of JavaScript and a simple line of CSS.

So please first install the following plugin.

Go to Settings > Insert Headers and Footers and add the following script.

</script>

And add this line of CSS in Appearance > Customize  > Additional CSS.

.o-interactive-item a {  
    pointer-events: none;
}

Well, by default way there is not any way to achieve that. You can do that by creating two interactive items and one to hide in desktop the other one to hide on mobile, I don't know if that sounds like a good solution to you.

Yes, you can make some portfolio items only dummy and use them for mobile, they'll have only featured images but their content can be empty and in Page Settings > General you can redirect them one by one to their respective portfolios.

The reason why that is showing, because it is getting the image from the top interactive post, which is already hidden.

As for Bifrost, I don't believe that Bifrost is heavy, it is quite opposite, the package is 8.8mb and from 8.8 the plugin Revolution Slider(zip file) is 6.4mb so Bifrost basically is only 2.4mb and the requests & features are quite low.

There's also a plugin where you can tract the server health stats, maybe that could give you a better overview.

Also, as for the interactive grid, I've added some Custom jQuery at Settings > Insert Headers which fixes that.
