I was trying to configure my online portfolio exactly as the main page of the Proton preview page, meaning with the thumbnails of all my projects (portfolio items) in display with the hoover effect and the possibility to click for more information. Right now, the only way I can see my projects like this is if I use the following link: https://atelier-espectro.pt/blog/portfolio_category/architecture/ which is fine as a page to link from the main menu on the top of the page but because it isn't really a page and rather a category I cannot set it as my home page...I somehow cannot figure out how to create a page that looks exactly like this but with all my project items despite the category they are in. I don't want to have subpages linking from the main menu, rather to use the main menu to click on "Portfolio" and open a page with the project thumbnails, and to click on "Blog" and open a page with all the blog posts together....I can't understand the mechanics to do this!
Have you tried using the WPBakery Page Builder? You can build any kind of layout with the elements that we have already created over there, for example a portfolio. You can have a look into documentation and see how the things are created.

Simply press edit with WPBakery Page Builder and the panel will be opened where you can edit the page through page builder. https://prnt.sc/q00ggj
You can also build the query of the portfolio items you want to display on that page.
