I wonder if you can help please. In both Firefox and Safari (desktop and mobile), often when I click on a portfolio category other than "all" (which is the first), the portfolio gallery loads only one image. It loads the rest of the images only after I scroll/touch the mouse. This is a problem because visitors to the site will think that there is only one image in each category unless they happen to scroll!
The problem hasn't happened yet in Chrome.
I have hidden filters for now because it really does look bad with only one image loading in a category but I really would like them enabled. Do you know what might be causing the problem?
(Additionally, I have just discovered that when filters are showing, the main portfolio page takes *much* longer to load than when filters are hidden. When filters are hidden, the loading is almost instantaneous!)
Many thanks. Have a lovely day.
Kira Ps- aside from this little problem, I love the theme! :-)
Because of the page size the load can be slow, I suggest you to do the following steps.
Install the plugin Insert Headers and Footers, it will allow you to add custom scripts on the theme.
Go to the settings of the plugin and add the following jQuery, it will refresh the layout when the jQuery is loaded. So there can't be any issue on the masonry load.
Unfortunately, that didn't work. I tried it in both the header and footer sections in the settings of Insert Headers and Footers but each time the website would actually display the code at the top / bottom of each page! Plus in fact it made the portfolio page much slower to load and for some reason downloaded much more information from the site before it would display anything.
I think that I will just leave categories hidden for now. Without them, the load time for the whole portfolio page is fast enough.
Thank you so much, and I'm very sorry for my late reply! We've been having some life chaos and I'm very behind with everything.
I've applied the jQuery as you suggested but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the load time. Everything is still slow. I realise that it is slow because the photos are so large but I can't find a way to have smaller thumbnails (for the masonry layout) with larger full-size images (for the click-through to the individual images in the lightbox). Is there any way around this please? I've compressed and shrunk my images as much as I can so that they still have enough quality in the lightbox but still each one is between 400-700kb. It's just not possible to have a high-quality image any smaller! With one or two on a page it's ok but with the gallery, they all have to downloaded/resized and that just takes time.
Many thanks again for your help and also for the theme (which I love!).
I am very sorry for the late reply, we were not working on the weekend.
Can you please provide me with your wp-admin, I will add the imagesloaded through the child theme, so it should work alright all the time. Make sure to tick private on the reply.
Feel free to ask for anything you need.

I just wanted to say thank you very much for your help. And I'm so sorry for the very late reply! Since last time, we have had to move house twice: between that and work, I am a little late with everything else.
Unfortunately the changes did not not solve the problem. With categories turned on, it is the same as before : only one or two pictures load until the user scrolls and then the rest appear. This is a problem because it makes it look like there are only one or two pictures in each category. With categories turned off (which is how I have it now), all of the pictures load but the load time is still very slow, maybe even slower than it was before.
I think that maybe it is just a problem because the photographs are so large. Unfortunately however, if I reduce their size or compress them any more, they do not display well at full size in the lightbox. Hopefully visitors will understand that gallery pages just are slow to load sometimes!
Thank you again for your assistance and for the theme, which I still love. In fact, I am hoping to convince a client to go with Neuron Themes for her new website :-)
No worries, hope you did well and I wish you all the best on the new house. You are welcome antytime and feel free to ask for anything you need
1) I've modified the JavaScript snippet, please check it on the pictures page.
2) No matter the thumbnail the whole image will be displayed on the lightbox.
3) For the speed, I would recommend you use any cacher, I would suggest W3 total cache but you can get any that seems alright to you, that will serve pages as static and their response will be a lot faster.
Thank you very much for recommendations, it really helps us and motivates us more and more.
Feel free to ask for anything you need.

Thank you very much again. I will look into the caching plugin when I have a little time: probably at the week-end.
Unfortunately, the filters were the same this morning: only the first picture appeared in the black&white category until I scrolled. So I have disabled the categories again. I think it's ok without them: people can see all the pictures together.
As for the overall speed, I cannot determine if the pictures page load time is now slower overall...this morning I am somewhere with very slow internet, so I will try it again later. Sometimes I think it was better in the beginning, before the JavaScript snippet, but it is hard to know for certain. Load speed test sites (pingdom, dotcom-tools) have given conflicting results. So, I will keep experimenting!
I am very sorry for the late reply, we were on a business trip, so I could not respond in time.
I have added some advanced handlers which will take care of the issue, I've tested it several times, it worked without a problem. Below I will attach a gif where you see the testing.
Feel free to ask for anything you need.

Hi Kira,
Thank you for providing me with the WordPress information and sorry for the late reply.
I have added a listener so when someone clicks the filters the layout is refreshed, so it will show correctly.
I could not find any page that had filters, so I have set them on pictures page.
