When I installed the theme there was a message in wordpress saying this theme required certain plugins (some required and others optional).

The one called Advanced Custom Fields was required and seems to be necessary for the content to be visible on the home page. The same plugin also causes a problem when trying to edit the content on ANY page. When I try to go the the edit screen for any page in wordpress the following error is displayed:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_list_sort() in /var/sites/m/monotwin.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/includes/local-fields.php on line 475"

I'm using Wordpress 5.1.1

I already tried switching to PHP version 7 and this didn't fix the problem.  It just makes the error longer.  Here's how it looks now:

Those plugins don't show up when I type their names into the wordpress dashboard on the install new plugin page. 

When I click the link you supplied it leads to a page that has other links that aren't clickable.

Seems to be working now.  

Is there a way of setting a logo to the top left part of the page with this theme (instead of just text)?

I'm now trying to work out how to get the pictures with rollovers and links as the demo.  So I uploaded the demo content which has imported lots of latin text and the menus but not the images or the rollovers.

I did get the image hover display working.  The thing that confused me was that the portfolio items on the page were targetting regular post items (and not the "posts" available in the portfolio items plugin).

Can you enlighten me as to what that plugin is intended for in your theme?

Also FYI I haven't started using the WP Bakery Page Builder plugin.

That link leads to a section in your documentation that's about a plugin called "Visual Composer" and it says it's not necessary to purchase a license for this.

If WPBakery is a new evolution of the same plugin it looks to me that a license is necessary to get any access to functions on a live site:

Have you bundled the paid WPbakery plugin with your theme? 

Within the WordPress dashboard there's a notice telling me it's activated but that it needs a licence to run. 

How would I go about opening a new area on a page with the plugin?

I think I'm getting there now thanks for all your help.

The other plugin problem is that Slider Revolution is not activating because under "system requirements" theres a problem with "Contact Themepunch Server".  When I click "check now" the site temporarily goes down and there's a database error. Can you suggest a remedy for that? The plugin reports that it is up to date.

I had a problem with the display of categories not occupying their own lines in the hover display on the home page.

I'm partway through resolving this on a test page having built a new display for posts using some custom fields within the grid builder.

I now have three issues:
1: When I click on any of the images that are meant to target a new tab in the browser (via the Page Links To plugin) the link is respected but no new tab is created.  It could be an issue with the plugin but you might be able to help also?  An example image that should create a new tab is the one that says "Past Times" on the top row.

2: There is no "hover" text when click-holding on iOS (maybe android too). On the home page if you tap and hold your finger on the image you see the hover text and the image disappears (nice) . On the test page nothing happens.  Do you know any clever CSS that will fix this?

3: The transform that occurs on my homepage is not present on the grid I made for the test page. No matter what efffect I pick within the grid builder they all look comparitavely naff.  The CSS I can find on inspecting my homepage for the effect I like is below.  I've tried using the .hover1 and .hover2 selectors I created in conjunction with some of this but it's not working.  Can you help?

Here's responses to your questions

1. The Grid was built in WPBakery using a "post grid" which in turn addresses a WPBakery "grid element template" (that allows discreet lines of text to be added in turn via the Advanced Custom Fields plugin.

2. I don't understand where to add onclick="" mentioned in the stackoverflow page you've linked. The other bit of advice I don't understand where to add is the following (doesn't look like CSS):

"Change your div background to an actual image tag within the div or create a dummy link around the entire div, it will then register as a hover when you touch the image.

Doing this will mean that you need the rest of your page to also be "hoverable" so when you touch outside of the image it recognizes that info-slide:hover has ended. My trick is to make all of my other content dummy links."

3. That effect works, fading out the images.  I was mainly looking to reproduce the way the hover text on my homepage faded and glided in here:  www.monotwin.co.uk

Issue 1 (new tab) is fixed on the test page.  For reference, what was the fix?

Issue 2 persists: The hover text is still not displaying at all on iOS although there is a change. I attach a picture of what I see now when tap-holding on the top left image on my iPhone. (iOS 12.0.1 Safari)

Issue 3 (text hover transformation) now works on a laptop.

I've tried your suggestion (right up to a value of 5000).  There's no change in the behaviour.  

(Still no hover text on iOS).  Are you able to test with an iOS device to find a solution?

I can confirm it works on iPhone 6 and 7 here but not 5.  

I tried clearing the cache and even tried on another phone the of same model with the same result.   Maybe there is a code variation that would fix?  Sorry for the extra hassle. Very grateful for the help. 

I've just checked on a friend's iPad and the hover doesn't display on that either and iphone 5 still doesn't work since the last edit you made.

Is there a way of doing a small tweak to the way the posts are displayed on the home page so that "excerpt" is displayed also?  That would allow three seperate lines of text to be displayed on the hover that is already working on all devices.

The home page currently hovers fine on everything.  The only problem there is the hover text for categories doesn't display on separate lines (hence my suggestion for using excerpt also)
