plugin conflict

when I try to edit templates I saved with Elementor the page goes completely blank. If I deactivate Neuron Core plugin it works fine.
According to Elementor documentation it might be a plugin conflict.
    How can I solve this?
I work with localhost on MAMP (on a Mac).

    Hi,

Please update your PHP version to 7 or higher, that will fix the issue quickly. The reason why that is showing is because we have written code in our themes in a high standard that is still not supported by some older versions of PHP.

Thanks, but I'm already using version 7.3.1

I also tried to increase the memory allocated to PHP and it didn't help.

That is super strange, can you please tell me what other plugins you have installed? The neuron core works very much as stand alone plugin, it simply adds some features to the theme and extra elements.

I only installed what was recommended for your theme.

OK, another thing that seems connected -
When I try to edit templates - I get a blank page.
When I try to edit pages - Elementor is loaded fine.
When I try to edit portfolio items, I get an error saying "the–content" function is missing.
When I switch to another theme everything is loaded fine.

I really need this problem solved so I can continue working on my site.

Well, now I also get the blank page of death when trying to edit pages....
I don't even know what I changed to earn this.

edit: I am not sure about this, but elementor does load for pages from the theme that were not edited by me. It seems it does not load for pages where I added a section template I saved, containing a menu.

    Hi,

I am very sorry for the late reply, we were not working on the weekend.

Containing a menu? Do you think that the nav menu item is throwing the issues?

Can you please talk to your host providers and tell them to change the permissions to 755, maybe that is the issue that is not allowing Elementor to write the files, since the predefined template are already working(they were already written).

Feel free to ask for anything you need.

    Kind Regard

I am not sure it's the menu to blame. As I said - I have problems with editing ALL templates, ALL portfolio items, and some of the pages, which I think are the ones that contain the nav menu.
I use localhost on MAMP. can you tell me how to change these permissions myself?

    Thank you, it partly helped.
Now I can edit some of the pages and templates, but only those which don't include a nav menu.
As for the portfolio items - I still get the message about "the_content" function missing for all of them.

You're welcome, I am glad to know.

    1) That's quite strange, the nav menu element works alright, I am just testing it on my local, it is also displayed on our demo. Can you please open the developer tab and check if there's any issue(console).

    2) Hmm, can you please check this article from Elementor, maybe you'll find something useful over there.

    1) well, setting wp_debug value to 'true' solved the menu issue. now I can edit those templates. YAY!!! at least I think this is what worked.
1A) How do I open the developer tab and check if there's any issue(console)? Sorry, but I'm a WP newbie and not a web developer.

    2) portfolio items editing error ("the_content" function missing) is still on. But we're making a progress :)

  • BigEyes-Design replied

I didn't change anything since last reply, but now I get the attached message when trying to edit original portfolio items from Kyoto theme, and the good old "the_content" missing when trying to edit portfolio items I created.

Huh, that seems like a very strange issue.

    1) For the portfolio items, can you please try one more thing.

    Issue with Permalinks:
It is possible that your permalinks structure has problem and need to be refreshed. Simply click save changes on the Settings > Permalinks, two three times most probably the problem should be resolved.

Also one more thing, when you changed the file permissions have you changed for the WordPress and all its subdirectories?

    Kind Regards

Again, I don't know how and why, since I didn't change anything in-between, but for now all is working fine!
I don't know how you developers keep your sanity with crazy stuff like that....

I did change permissions for the whole directory.

anyway, I hope it will keep on working, and I'll inform you if anything will go wrong again.
