hope you're well. Just got a quick question regarding the use of the proofing gallery. I can't have the tick box visible ? (and so, I can't have a picture selected / unselected) The download icon is visible and functional. But nothing with the 'Checked' icon.
It looks like it's the same with your demo on-line
When you add the Media Gallery widget on the page, you have to set the type to "Proofing", then you have to upload the images that you want to have on your gallery.
While adding the Images, on the right sidebar, you have the option to set the proofing option (Approved or Rejected), you have to select one of them so the gallery will work.

When you're done adding images, go back to the Media Gallery Widget > Content Tab > Image Details, and add proofing there.
